Depew Law Firm was established on January 2, 1953 in Neodesha, Kansas by Harry L. Depew as a general practice law firm. Douglas Depew joined the firm in 1980 and Dennis Depew joined the firm in 1983. In May, 2015 Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt appointed Dennis Depew as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation and Dennis is no longer associated with Depew Law Firm. Third generation Kansas attorney Philip Depew joined the firm as an associate after being sworn in to the Kansas Bar April 30, 2021.
Doug Depew has over 40 years of experience as a Kansas bankruptcy attorney and is well known throughout Southeast Kansas for his decades of experience helping people obtain a fresh financial start through bankruptcy law. In addition, Doug provides many general practice legal services such as uncontested adoptions, uncontested divorces, contracts, estate planning, wills and trusts, probate matters, most guardian and conservator cases as well as powers of attorney. Doug does not handle contested divorces or contested matters involving children. He has served as Neodesha City Attorney since 1983.

Doug Depew has served the legal profession over many years in various capacities. Among other positions, Doug has served as President of the Southeast Kansas Bar Association, President of the Thirty-First Judicial District Bar Association and President of the Wilson County Bar Association. In 2004 he was selected by the bankruptcy judges in Kansas to serve on the first Kansas Bankruptcy Bench-Bar Committee. He is co-author of Chapter 3 Exemptions and Prebankruptcy Estate Planning of the Kansas Bar Association's Kansas Bankruptcy Handbook (Third Edition, 2009). From 2013-2014 Doug served as President of the Kansas Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Insolvency Section and he continues to serve on the Executive Committee of the KBA Bankruptcy and Insolvency Section. In 2019 Doug was elected by his fellow attorneys in the Thirty-First Judicial District to serve as a lawyer member of the 31st Judicial District Nominating Commission. In 2022 he was re-elected to this position.
Doug has held various leadership positions in civic and charitable organizations in the Neodesha area over many years. Among the organizations he has served are the Neodesha Arts Association, Neodesha Community Foundation, Neodesha Lions Club, Neodesha United Methodist Church and Wilson Medical Center Foundation.
